When buying appraised merchandise…

When buying appraised merchandise such as jewlery or any other items worth value, here’s what you need to know. If you bought an item and the ad states its appraisal value is worth so many dollars (ex:1,500) and think you got a great deal, and later realize that the item you purchased is completely worthless, this is not an illegal act and therefore you will be responsible for your loss. When an item states an appraisal value, keep in mind that the definition of an appraisal value is someones opinion of what they think the item is worth. Unless the item is described specifically as something it is not, (ex: a diamond found to be a CZ) no legall action can be taken against that person. So make sure you carefully read all the ads about the item you’re interested in and ask the seller specific questions about that item.
