I bought this club because I started playing with a couple of 2 and 5 handicap friends who both hit the 420 and hit it extremely well. What really attracted my attention was their ability to hit this club off the fairway. I tried their’s and was surprised at what a solid underated driver this is and the versatility of being able to hit it off the fairway. It has a much more rounded bottom than most drivers and is really solid and also small enough to still be workable. It’s not quite as forgiving as many of todays drivers but that wasn’t an issue. I play 5 or 6 days a week and about 9 different driver’s, 2 Titleist 983K’s different lofts and a Titleist 905T as well as a TaylorMade R7 425 and the 420 that I play regularly and also a Cobra XSpeed, Cleveland Hibore, and Ping G5 that I switch off to now and then, and because it’s so easy with EBay I’ve probably tried 20 different drivers over the past 2 years so I can make a fairly broad comparison. The Taylor Made 420 burner was a real bargain I love it, enough so that I invested a Diamana Blueboard Mitsubishi rayon shaft in it. I have never had a TaylorMade that I didn’t change the shaft in. The 420 is not real common and they sell for $30 to $50 but in my opinion they are a bargain for the lower handicap player who wants a driver he can hit off the fairway opening up the bag for an extra wedge or rescue club.
