Shakyamuni Buddha also known as Gautam Buddha was born in 563 B.C at Lumbini, western part of Nepal. He attained ” Bodhi Gyana” enlightment that is state of Nirvana after 6 years of meditation. He was then called the enlightened one “Buddha”. He died at the age of 80 at Kusinagara. To distinguish from all other Buddha, he is called Shakyamuni( The lion of Shakya clan), the son of king Suddhodana and queen Mayadevi. Shakyamuni Buddha is also known as Gautam Buddha.

Shakyamuni Buddha Statue brings peace and enlightment in our body and mind.
A statue or painting of a Buddha is called in Sanskrit a “Buddharupa,” meaning “the form of an Enlightened One.” Buddhists have used such images for thousands of years to show how the Truth can be found within oneself through the practice of meditation and spiritual training. Thus, a statue of Shakyamuni does more than commemorate an historical figure; it is a reminder of the spiritual potential inherent within all of us to be awakened to the Truth as Buddha, a fellow human being, did.

Buddhists usually place figures of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas on their altars. Bowing and offering incense at these altars expresses both the recognition of the sublime spiritual qualities represented by these statues and the aspiration to manifest these same qualities within ourselves.
