I am writting this guide to inform people about the countless fake autographs that one can find on eBay with a simple click. There are a few simple rules that one should follow when deciding to bid on an uncertified autograph card.

1. Check out the seller’s feedback; see what other people have said about him and if any have ever questioned the authenticity. If someone has, be sure to see if that person is trustworthy enough.

2. Certified autographs usually are the way to go, but uncertified autographs may be cheaper. Make sure the seller is clear about where he/she got the autograph. Most listings claiming that they are selling their “friend’s” collection are selling fakes. If it is their friend’s collection, then that are not held responsible.

3. Look at certified autographs of that player and compare to the item in question. If you feel that it is similar enough and flows smoothly ( as in its not choppy; another sign of a forgery ) then it is probably authentic. They have PSA/DNA quick opinion, so you may use that as well.
