I too have been analyzing the best radar detector that meet or exceed the expectations one expects . Though the escort detectors and bel are a very good detector, i found the Valentine-1 to be the best overall . I drove all over the US(i do so for a living) and logged approx. 150,000 miles while testing these three detectors, Let me tell you freinds the V-1 has them all beat. Also keep in mind that mike at V-1 invented the escort detector before leaving to become what is now his new company “Valentine-1″. So with this added information , i hope it will assist you in making the right choice for you. Again….i beleive in “you get what you pay for”, the V-1 is a unbeleiveable radar and laser detector and i personaly recommend it for the best radar detection money can buy. The extra warning and time you have to adjust your speed on average for me in these tests were 1.8 miles initialy from MY DETECTORS TO THE RADAR SOURCE (giving a slight edge to the V-1 over the others on overall averages) including hilly terrain on any band.(most frequent being k and ka band). Each test was conducted at speed violations of 15 mph over the limit, and i never got stopped once. Please note: I do not condone speeding, i like to look at it this way………if my detector alerts , its “reminding” me to not exceed the posted speed limit. Its too easy to speed now days even when we dont realize we are doing it.
