I recently was surfing the web, when I came up with the idea of trying to find some new golf clubs to buy for myself. I looked on just about every web site that I could find that I thought would sell golf clubs. I searched for a while, and I did not find any deals that sparked my interest. I then typed in “cheap golf clubs” as a Google search. I came across a link to a website claiming that they would give me free golf clubs, as long as I agreed to write a report up for them about how well the worked. Next, I chose the set that I wanted to recieve. I did not really believe that I was going to get the golf clubs, but I was still hopeful.

Right after choosing the golf clubs, I was taken to a page that said I must fill out two offer sheets from a list of sponsors in order to recieve the clubs. I went on to this, because the fees for the offers just were for shipping and handling, about 5 dollars for each. 10 dollars is certainly a good deal for a set of golf clubs. After completing these two offers, I was then sent to a page in which I had to complete 4 more offers. I realised that I had been tricked.

I then looked closer at what I had just paid for. For both orders I had to return the products and cancel my orders within 10 days of recieving them, or else I would begin paying 75 dollars a month. Neither company chose to advertise this information. I immedately called the two company’s and told them that I would like to cancel my order. One company that I calledtold me that I could not cancel my order until I recieved it. The other was impossible to get a hold of. I called atleast 5 times, while holding on the line for up to 10 minutes while never being able to talk to anyone. I then sent the company an e-mail along with the better buisness bureau, to tell them everything that had happened. They cancelled my order, and told me that I still would need to send their product back.

My advice to everyone is as follows: Do not ever attempt to attain anything of value over the internet for free, in the end it will always be an elaborate scheme with a lot of fine print, that will never end.
