How to make your car engine last over 100,000 miles ?

This is a common sense approach guide to getting the most durability out of your car’s engine . No rocket science here ! All you have to do is let your car warm up for at least 15 seconds during warm/hot weather before driving off . Cranking a car and immediately driving off is the absolute worst thing you can do to an engine . When your engine is cold all the oil is in the oil pan at the bottom of the car . Oil needs time to circulate throughout the engine and lubricate all internal parts . Getting into a car and immediately driving off, you have a grinding and meshing of naked metal to metal parts . This is the worst kind of wear on an engine . No oil hasn’t gotten to these parts because you didn’t give the engine time enough to fully lubricate itself . I’ve seen people do this and they wonder why their cars don’t last . That blue smoke you see billowing behind your car was caused by this type neglect . Your car was made to last longer than you think . Take care of it .

So if you want your car engine to last well past 100,000 miles ,please allow it to fully oil itself before driving off . Also during the winter months observe the same warm-up technique . The only difference is you need more time for an engine to lubricate during the winter . During freezing weather the oil is thicker and flows more slowly . Metal to metal grinding is greater because of the slow rate that cold oil flows throughout an engine .An ideal warm-up time is 3-5 minutes . Winter use is the worst on any engine . If you continue to drive off without allowing an engine proper time to fully lubricate you will have costly repairs eventually . This is one of the main reasons why cars require engine over hauls . Take the time and let your engine fully lubricate itself . Take care of your car and it will take care of you !
