How to make Primitive Soap Balls
Garden guide February 18th, 2008
Making primitive soap balls is real easy to do and so much fun! They add just the perfect primitive touch to your kitchen and bathroom…and make great, inexpensive gifts too!
Supply List
1 pound Melt and pour opaque soap base
1 tbs Fragrance oil of your choice ( I like to use bakery scents, cinnamon scents or oatmeal, milk and honey)
Ground oatmeal, approximately 1/4 cup
1/2 cup Grated bar soap ( optional)
Cinnamon (optional)
To start, cut your soap base into small cubes and put in a microwave safe bowl. Pour your oatmeal in a blender and set to grind. Once it has reached the consistancy you want, pour it into a measuring cup and measure out 1/4 cup. Set aside. Melt your soap base in the microwave, just set for 1 min. If it has not all melted, just keep putting it back in the microwave for a minute at a time. Do not let your base boil. Once completely melted, add your fragrance oil and ground oatmeal. Stir. If you are adding any additional ingredients, now is the time to do it. If adding cinnamon, add 1/8 to 1/4 of a tsp now. Becareful not to add too much even though it may be tempting, because too much cinnamon can be irritating to the skin.
