Please keep in mind that all pewter lids are imperfect and this is one way to tell a true pewter lid versus the fake ones or chrome tops. Most if not all hand blown canister sets come from China or Mexico. The ones from China are actually of much better quality and do not chip or break easily.

Hand blown glass is also imperfect and many of the “red” colored glass cannot be properly made without a health risk to the production line so most if not all “red” canister sets are not hand blown.

Hand blown glass canister sets should all have seals especially if they contain food. They do not have to have seals if they are used just for decoration.

Be careful when buying as there are many that state it is hand blown glass and pewter lids and they really are not.
