Five books you need for your running library

The following are five books that any avid runner must have in their library:
1. The Lore of Running by Tim Noakes. This is the most comprehensive book available on running, covering everything from physiology to stretching. It is science and research based. On of the most interesting sections is titled “Training with the Experts” and is really a history of distance running from early origins to the present.
2. Running with the Buffaloes by Chris Lear. This book captures the life of a competitive college distance runner better than anything else out there. It follows the University of Colorado team through the 1998 season, Adam Goucher’s senior year when he one the NCAA Division I national championships.
3. Daniels’ Running Formula by Jack Daniels. This book contains training guides for distances from the 800 to the marathon using Daniel’s tried and proven system.
4. The Four Minute Mile by Roger Bannister. This is the autobiographical account of one of the 20th centuries greatest human achievements.
5. Once A Runner by John Parker. The classic tale of Quentin Cassidy and after Running with the Buffaloes, does the best job of portraying the life of a competitive distance runner as well as the iconic individuals you will often find in the running community.
