One sure way to tell a fake asides from the description, wording and pics……look closely (if they post clear pics) at the headstock Gibson logo. The American made Les Pauls have “dotted” the “i” in Gibson aligned with the tops of the letters in the logo Gibson. The chinese fakes have the dot over the “i” in Gibson logo placed lower every time. Their fake logo is milky white, not mother of pearl looking like the American Les Pauls.

Here’s the latest: When you see an “Ace Frehley”,,,,,,,,you can tell a fake by the fact it has a rosewood fretboard, not ebony. Doublecheck the Zakk camo’s against the camo’s on Gibson’s webpages (or at least do a google search for pics)……you can see the camoflauge finish differences (colors) are definitely not the same.

Also be aware of those seller’s that ask for 2 weeks shipping by “EMS”…….that means the guitar is coming from China. thay are merely portraying a “lookalike” of the guitar you might get,not the actual guitar.

The biggest giveaway is the starting price……….no one I know spends greater than $1,000.00 for a American Gibson ,be it a studio,robot,custom,standard,etc……..then lists it on Ebay at a $.99 or $250.00,(you get the idea).Vague descriptions, fuzzy pictures, ridiculous disclaimers like,”I am a mother of nine kids”…….”I really don’t know much about guitars”…………”this will pay for my organ transplant”…………..

Most importantly…………….DO THE RESEARCH……..look at the guitar in question super close……..compare “ALL” the features of said guitar against other legitimate Gibson listings here on Ebay. You’ll find no one list’s a Zakk Wylde for under $2000.00 (hardly,if it’s the real thing!

I hope this info helps first time buyer’s as well as seasoned buyers. I get sick seeing these listings of low-quality ,cheaply made copies of the real thing on here. I’ve seen and examined a few of these in hand…..a local Pawn Shop owner I have known for several years was tricked into buying several of these as “real Gibson’s”….(long story short)…..he lost alot of money once he was told by muscians locally they were indeed fake. He almost had to give them away. The quality is poor, they are described as being “made”…(wood, metals, etc.) like the American Gibson’s,but are shoddy crap at best.

Gibson has a strong American tradition here in the U.S.. I’ve been playing Fender and Gibson since I was 12 years old…….nothing else is better! If you have other preferences as to your favorite maker, cool.

Here’s the deal breaker………….see for yourself…………go to this site…samin.cn and see for yourself the crap coming from China. This is but one of the many overseas sites violating American copyright laws to sell this junk. Hope this update helps. Please be wary before spending your hard earned cash on what you may be decieved into buying and have a great day!
