Dragon, Tiger, Gate is a martial art film from China released on DVD in 2006. The official website can be found at http://www.DragonTigerGateMovie.com

Continuing in the new Chinese Martial Arts style, Dragon, Tiger, Gate has the feel of an anime cartoon, with the plot of a Japanese Yakuza movie, and the special effects and fight scenes that you would find in modern Chinese high-end martial art movies. The DVD was released at the same time Jet Li’s “Fearless” was released in North American theatres.

(From the back of the box)
“Tiger Wong (Nicholas Tse) unwittingly takes the Lousha Death Plaque, a token decreed by the leader of the Lousha Gate, Shibumi, hance is ambushed by triad gangs. As fate has it, Dragon Wong (Donnie Yen), a bodyguard works for a triad boss, saves Tiger and discovers that Tiger is his brother. Turbo Shek (Shawn Yue), a blond youth who plays a nanchakus, meanwhile, befriends with the brothers in a fierce fight. in the super power showdown and endless killings in the Jiang Hu, only these three back street boys can fight for justice in the community. This film is a tale of heart-pounding martial-arts piece adapted from media magnate Tony Wong Yuk-long’s well known comic. This sensational action packed film transfuses the spirit of the period style martial arts with a modern touch. Its fight scenes are fantastic and yet authentic and innovative; imagery lavish yet realistic.

I give this movie less then a year before you’ll see it re-released as a new film in North American and European theatres … it’s just THAT good.
