For

many years animal practioners such as myself found that when using

essential oils on pets there is a profound effect on not only the

physical ailments but behavioural issues as well.

Many pets are given away for behavioural issues that can be addressed

when using essential oils and other holistic alternatives. You

can assist housebreaking issues, car sickness, aggression, shyness, fear of rain

storms and many other issues that our furry friends have.

Essential oils can also assist in medical issues such as arthritis, sprains, seizures and many others.

Dogs have much better “sniffers” than we do so the dosage and

application is different than on people. NEVER allow essential

oils near the eyes on either pets or people. Essential oils are not

water soluble so do not try to rinse it out with water making it

worse. Only use vegetable oil to dilute and get vet/doctor

care.

When applying essential oils to dogs use caution. You can put

therapeutic grade oils directly on the fur. If you want to put it

on the paws or inside of ears it must be diluted with a carrier oil to

prevent possible stinging burns. Any oil such as kitchen

vegetable oil will work.

Many therapeutic grade oils can also be ingested. Make certain they are designed to be taken internally.

If uncertain which oils are best for your pet never guess,

make sure you work with a qualified animal practioner for the safety of

your pet. If your pet has seizures there are certain oils that

might not be able to be used.

When looking for an animal practioner always check to see if they are

familiar with the various grades of essential oils. Only

therapeutic grade oils should be used and with caution taking into

account the current allopathic medications the pet is on and current

medical problems. No essential oil is FDA approved, however,

always ask if the essential oils meet ISO or AFNOR standards.

Those suppliers follow the same guidelines. If they are not they

are not therapeutic grade oils. They should also be able to mix a custom blend for your dogs specific issues/s

Note: No alternative treaments should take the place of prescribed allopathic care.
