Define A LayOver Pillow Sham Please
Garden guide February 18th, 2008
As you are searching on eBay, for a pillow sham, you come across,
and auction that states.. “LayOver Pillow Sham? What is that? No it is
NOT a pillow to use in an airport between flights. It is a pillow sham
without a back. You just LAY the sham OVER the pillows.
F.Y.I.
-
Layover Shams were usually decorative, and done with the finest of Needlework.
-
Could be one large one to cover both pillows, or two separate shams, one for each pillow.
-
Probably part of a brides Wedding Trousseau, and part of a sheet set.
If you come across a set, or just one, and do not want them as pillow shams, don’t pass them by. They are clever ways to recycle them. Many of them have extensive handwork, and would be an excellent decorating accessory for today’s home. They make a great table topper or luncheon cloth, made into a valance, or could be recycled into a decorative pillow. If you are limited for space, they
could be folded, and hardly take any room, when they are not in use.
There would be no need for bulky pillow forms. A clever way to hide
everyday sleeping pillows.
