No Sewing Machine required. I did this for my 12-year old niece who chose her own fabric and made her own pillows.

What you need.

Needle , thread to match fabric, scissors, pins ,tape measure, pencil or chalk.

  • cardboard 14 1/2 “x 14 1/2 “and 1/2 “x 14 1/2″
  • 1/2 yard Fabric -Cotton for your first project.

  • 1 -14″ Pillow Insert,

Let us begin. Measure and cut cardboard to size. 2.Fold fabric in two, wrong side up, selvage edges (uncut) together. 3.Place cardboard on folded edge of fabric. 4.Draw chalk line around 3 edges of the cardboard template. 5. Remove template and cut fabric along chalk line. You now have 1 square piece of fabric with a fold in the middle.

6.Keep edges together and use the thin strip of cardboard to draw a line around the three open edges. 7. Pin along the chalk line leaving 8 inches on one open edge so you can put the insert in. 8. Hand stitch along the chalk line using backstitch ( see Below). 9.Turn right side out and iron. Pay attention to the edges and corners. Iron the open edge under towards the inside. You now have a Pillow Cover.

10.Fold Insert in 2 and fit into the Pillow Cover making sure that it fits snugly corner to corner in the case. 11.Pin the open edge together and backstitch .
