What to do and How to clean Your Jewelry

The most important thing to remember is, when in doubt, take it to a pro.

If your jewelry has been neglected for an extended period of time or seems fragile or is antique, go to a jeweler.

No home remedies. Believe me, you’ll regret it.

Regular cleaning and maintenance of a jewel is pretty darn simple. Just go over the jewel using a small medium to hard bristle brush. After the brushing, rub it gently with a chamois. Watch that luster come back!

Memo to all: BEWARE CLAW SETTINGS! Claw settings may mean that adhesives have not been used, in which case never immerse jewelry in hot or even warm water. Instead, try removing dirt with the aforementioned dry brushing.

If it is certain that adhesives have not been used in the setting, alight cleaning with warm water or a little methylated spirit may be attempted. But dab with a cloth, don’t dunk. And dry quickly.

Once again, when in doubt, go to a pro.
