Doggie Stylz Pet Steps Store We at Doggiestylz Pet Steps know that choosing the correct step for your pet can be very challenging. We have learned a few things over the years that we have been manufacturing steps so maybe this guide will help.

Things to consider when choosing a step or ramp for your pet:

  • The weight of your pet.
  • The physical condition of your pet.( any disabilities)
  • The body style of your pet( short legs, long body, etc.). which would effect how high you want each step to be and also how deep each step should be.
  • How high the pet has to go to reach the bed, couch or car.
  • How much room you have in your home or car for the step.
  • Do you the owner have a problem with lifting the step to move it.
  • Is your pet used to using steps or a ramp currently. Some pets need to be trained to use steps and some owners have told us that their pets won’t use a ramp because the pet feels unsteady.
  • The higher the step then the wider the base needs to be to avoid tipping.
  • Is the manufacturer of the step willing to make special steps or to add handles to help the owner in lifting the step.

Steps are veterinarian recommended to help prevent injuries that may not show up until the pets’ later years. Before we began manufacturing steps we consulted with our daughter who is a veterinarian. It is also recommended that the steps be constructed of a firm material that doesn’t give when the pet steps on it and that it be covered with a material that won’t slip under the pet’s feet. We also have designed our steps to be wide enough to avoid tipping over when the pet is in a hurry and steps on a corner.

Getting up on the bed, couch or in the vehicle may be difficult on the pet but getting down is when the damage is done.
