CCD vs CMOS lenses

electronics February 19th, 2008

Compared to CCD image sensors, CMOS are less expensive, and operate a

lower supply voltages, and tend to consume less power. CCD image

sensors are the more mature technology, and this maturity gives them

the edge on image quality today. CMOS imagers have more noise problems

than their CCD counterparts, which contributes to this gap in image

quality.
