I didn’t think I could hit a forged club…WRONG!

I’m a 19 handicap and always bought the conventional wisdom that I wouldn’t be able to handle a forged club.

I bought a used set of these just to have some clubs around for my son to use….then I tried them one day and they are fantastic. The ball goes much farther….easily 10 yards more….maybe 15. If I don’t hit the ball just right all that happens is I lose a few yards.

Although at set up the loft of the clubs looks like the ball will fly low, I find with these clubs the ball has a high trajectory for nice soft landings.

If youve owned the VAS or VAS+ irons (as I did)

then these will be very familiar to you. Although they’ve done away with the offset, they are very similar in feel and and build. I appreciate it when a company improves something that was very good instead of doing away with a product line altogether. Cleveland golf makes some of the best equipment in the biz and makes it affordable for all levels of players. If your thinking of buying I also recommend the CG11 wedges. You wont be disappointed. Remember, above all, have fun out there.

I recently purchased the Cleveland CG4 irons

and was impressed with the quality of the irons. They were as described , almost new, and I love hitting them. I previously had Calloway Big Bertha Irons but these Cleveland’s are smother, lighter and I seem to get a little more distance.

Even high handicap and new golfers will benefit

The low center of gravity combined with the Action Lite shaft makes it soooo easy to get the ball airborne and land it soft. The sole is not nearly as wide as other game improvement irons which is nice when your tee shot strays into the rough. It’s also easy to open or shut the face a bit for cuts and draws. Mind you, these are not players clubs. Us weekend warriors don’t have repeatable enough swings to use players clubs anyway. We’d all be happy with balls that find the green even with less than great contact. That’s what these irons deliver. Hit ‘em towards the toe and you’re on the right side of the green. Hit ‘em on the heel and you’re on the left side of the green. Hit ‘em a little thin and you’re on the back of the green. Hit ‘em a little fat and you’re on the front of the green. Get the picture? You’re on the green! Now go 2-putt and take your par!

Buy the 4-D set. The gap wegde is labeled “D” - don’t know why. It’s a 50* gap wedge. (Who wants a 3 iron anyway? Aren’t we all playing hybrids now?) Match up 54* and 58* CG11 wedges and you’ve got a great set of sticks!

The only negative thing I can say about these irons is that the scoring irons do have a tendency to balloon a bit, especially in strong wind. I’ve found that moving the ball about an inch back in my stance for 8-PW really helps when the wind is ripping.

I got fit for my set. Turns out I’m 2* flat and 1/2″ short with an undersize grip. No problem - I ordered my set made that way at no extra charge. That certainly is better than buying “off the rack” and then spending another $100-$150 to have lie and length adjusted. Take this into account when thinking you’ve found a deal on ANY off-the-rack club.

Titelist Futura Putter

Fairway Woods, Irons June 23rd, 2008

I love this putter! The feel and sound are amazing. I have never put my puts so close from that far. I would make a few 30-40 ft puts a round now. I recommend this club.

I switched to the Futura last year from a Scotty Newport. I just felt as though the Futura helped aligning shorter putts - you know those pesky 3 to 5 footers you should make, but often miss. Well, I won the club championship with it last year and was runner-up this year [putting wasn’t my problem]. The Futura gives me confidence that I can make anything - putting is fun again! Even rolling the 20 footers this putter feels awesome. It looks crazy I know - when it came out I said I’d never putt with that thing - but a girl from our club who plays at Wake Forest had the Futura Phantom and she putts like Crenshaw. so I gave the Futuras a look see - Glad I did.

Two Different People

The seler was very quick to respond to my questions during the bidding and was very quick to ship the product. After the transaction he did not respond to my questions…a perfect case of buyer beware. The left handed putter was shipped with a right handed putter cover and was not shipped with the divot repair tool.

I decided to buy this putter as I have wanted it for over a year but wasn’t willing to pay full price. I kept checking E-bay for the “right” deal and finally found it.

This putter had been kept for a couple of years by the seller in brand new condition. I am very happy with the prestine condition and the price that I paid for it.
