If you are buying off consider the following:

1. Is it real?

2. Does the seller have any proof? IE Genuine photo and not a copied one!!!

3. Search other similar listings and make sure you are not getting ripped off.

4. Do not buy if you are not too sure.

5. Check it out with the seller before you buy.

6. How long has the seller been a member.

Hope you found my guide helpful.

Beware of secondhand/re-conditioned goods sold as new

collectibles toys March 1st, 2008

Hello Everyone

I just wanted to tell you about a bad experience I had on eBay.

I bought a digital camera bundle which I thought sounded like good value - tripod, camera bag, battery charger and sd card. I paid over ?20.00 for this. When the item arrived I could see that the carton in which the camera bundle was packaged clearly had the word ‘re-conditioned’ on it. This was not made clear at the time of purchase. The battery charger was cheap-looking and made from a cheap type of plastic. The camera bag was in fact a cheap-looking pouch and the tripod was so small that it was only good for putting on the table.

As you can imagine, I was not at all pleased with the item. The seller was made aware of my complaint through the resolution centre, but to no avail. However, the seller did offer to send me ?5.00 to buy a replacement battery charger but I refused this offer because my complaint was not only about the the battery charger. An honest seller would have offered me a full re-fund.

Be careful!!! There are sellers who will sell you poor quality or secondhand items as new. You may not get recompense from these people - even sellers who have a high positive rating can cheat you.

Thank you for reading.

Seller Accountability - a grassroots movement

collectibles toys March 1st, 2008

’s corporate culture is to allow everything - they cant stand the idea of punishing/restricting sellers.
I complained about things like sellers overcharging for shipping and handling and did nothing.
I complained about fake ID’s, badges, FBI and police-only material being auctioned and they did nothing.
I complained about unscrupulous sellers who had screwed me on myEbay home page and the wonks made me remove it.
will pile on the little guy - the buyer who gets three marks for not completing a purchase but you know what,
They wont do a thing to sellers.
They dont want to ban or suspend sellers because that is how they make their record profits and big stock portfolios.
I think the only thing I have ever heard removed from an listing was human organs like kidneys being auctioned.
If they really cared, would make an easy single port of entry for complaints and establish service thresholds for sellers, something like 10 negatives a month or 20 negatives in six months.
Have you ever tried to register a complaint with ? It is like a very bad dream.
Would love to see a threshold set for negative feedbacks in a month and if a seller goes over that maximum, seller is banished from for the next 90 days. Now that would help clean up this problem. Then publish these sellers id and actual full name and state so that everyone can learn they are cheaters. Put it in the community section and call it EBAY SUSPENSIONS. It would be huge and help alot.

Reputable sellers - if you are going to charge handling - PUT IT IN BIG LETTERS AT THE TOP OF THE LISTING AND STATE THE AMOUNT so that the buyer has a clue about this before they bid - WAY TOO MANY sellers have adopted this ambush-em after the bid to keep their profit margins high even if the item goes cheap. Until we as a community insist on these kinds of accountability changes, is going to continue to have 1 or 2% of its sellers hiding its practices from the buyer.
