As sellers we need to take the time to adequately prepare items for shipment. Bubblewrap is a great invention, and does wonders for protecting fragile items. Packing peanuts and simple crumpled newpaper work well too if you use enough of it. I usually try to provide an inch or two of padding between the item I am shipping and the sides, bottom, and top of the box I use. The item should be completely surrounded with padding. NO open space, that way it CAN’T move around in the box. The box should be completely filled to the top. Packing peanuts do settle sometimes so be generous with them. If sending multiple items in the same box make sure to have padding between each item. Use a large enough box for what you intend to ship, leaving plenty of cushion space between item and box wall. Double boxing items is a great idea too as an added protection measure. Again, placing padding between the two. Yes, insurance is great, but doesn’t always cover the true value of the item and isn’t meant to provide an out for thoughtless packing. It would be so much better for everyone and save headaches if the items could be delivered in the condition they were in when viewed at auction. Please Package Carefully.
