Birth-1 year: Infants who weigh 20 pounds or less must be secured in a rear facing car seat in the back seat of a car.
1-4 years: Preschoolers who weigh between 20 and 40 pounds should ride in a convertible forward facing seat or high back booster seat.
4-8 years: Older children who are shorter than 4 ft. 9 in. should sit in a belt positioning booster seat.
