Can Feedback Guide You In Picking A Great Tarot Reader?

If there is one category where buyers scrutinize a seller’s
feedback, it’s in the Tarot Readings area.
No discerning buyer is about to part with her money to an
unknown reader for a highly subjective purchase like this
without checking what others have to say about the
seller…especially when Tarot reading is often
associated with phrases like, “Cross my palms with silver,
and I will tell you your fortune,” muttered by a stereotypical
laughing gypsy-type person who jumps on his horse and
rides off into the sunset with your precious coins!
In no other area have I had customers mention the word
feedback more often–at least not in the areas I sell items
other than tarot readings. But how can you tell exactly what
a person is saying when he leaves feedback for a tarot
reading? Well, it’s not as cut and dried as it may seem…
First, you rarely spot negative feedback for a tarot reading.
If a reading is way off mark, a client tends either to leave no
feedback at all, or to emphasize how quick the reader’s
turnaround was. Nothing about the reading itself.
Positive feedbacks, however, come in all shapes and sizes.
One must keep in mind that most often someone
seeks a tarot reading when he/she has a problem. Her
marriage is failing, his business is teetering on the edge of
bankruptcy, her health is questionable. Obviously, that type of
client is looking for encouragement, support and often
even for a reader to tell him things are not as he fears and that
everything will turn out fine. He hopes against hope that a reader
will see that in the cards and often will engage reader after
reader looking for that kind of encouragement.
Unfortunately, that isn’t true to life. So, if a competent reader
tells the client what she really sees in the cards (even couched
in sympathy, compassion and encouragement), a client will
tend to leave feedback reflecting his personal discomfort
with the situation–often not a true comment on the accuracy
of the reading. You will see phrases such as, “Compassionate
reading, thank you,” or “Kind reader, very nice.”
That type of feedback makes it appear as if the reader was
off mark, when the reading may have been exactly on
point–just not what the client wanted to hear.
Also (and I hate to point this out), you will often see highly
flowing, very positive feedback. That may indicate that the
reading was exceptional (I like it when that happens!);
however, it may also mean that the reading was not exactly
accurate but was what the client wanted to hear laced with
lollipops and roses…and a lot of stroking. That may not be fair
to the next buyer who reads the wrong message into the
feedback left.
So, can checking a reader’s feedback guide you to choosing
a competent, accurate reader? It can help–especially if you
see words like accurate, meaningful or on the mark.
But perhaps it shouldn’t be the only thing you look at.
Tarot readings are subjective and highly individual. So, I guess
we should understand that feedback will also be just
as subjective and individual.
