ATV FRAUDS

popular books February 27th, 2008

I wanted everyone to be aware of this major scam out there. I recently decided to make my first big purchase off eBay. A Suzuki King Quad. This sounded like a great deal the price was in range we could afford and it was close to us.

When we first looked at the item it said it was here in the US and in Texas, when we click on buy it now, it told us to contact the seller at his inbox. Never having bought anything big off eBay, I did. Immediately after this I noticed the listing was no longer on eBay, when I asked why, the seller said somebody else had been interested and his wife changed her mind. After a few more conversations through email, I decided this guy was OKay and agreed to continue on with the sale. He even went as far as to tell me about his family!!! The seller had changed the location of the ATV, it was also now located in the UK! He said he had just gotten a job transfer and didn’t realize he couldn’t make his ATV street legal without spending a ton of money and it was sitting in port and was costing him daily. My fiance and I decided he seemed like a good guy and went no with the sale. The seller even went so far as to say hey if your worried send the money under someone elses name, I’ll have to have proper ID, so I can’t get it until you get your item and it’s what you want.

Sound Good? That’s what we thought. GUESS WHAT? The jerk made a fake ID and the people didn’t verify the information was correct. They gave hime the money.

I guess the bottom line is: DON’T purchase anything outside of eBay! DON’T purchase anything outside the US, especially if it is in the UK! And above all else DON’T EVER TRUST anyone!

If you find something that sounds to good to be true it probably is. If you find something outside of the US on eBay it probably isn’t. And if they ask you to use any money transfer service or change the site of the item or want to conduct the sale outside of eBay. PLEASE send that email to ’s security team and let’s all work together to keep eBay safe.
