What are art cards you ask? Good thing you did, art cards are an affordable and convenient way for anyone, and I mean anyone, to own original artwork. Don’t have much wall space? Not a problem. Don’t have much money that you want to invest into art or afraid you don’t know if the artist has any real fame? Not a problem. Art Cards where the creation of M. Originally, they were a product of self promotion as well as an opportunity for artists to exchange works of art with one another, since the term, “starving artist” is often literal, it is handy for artist to have work that can be produced within a day and traded without breaking their pocketbooks. After a short time, the fine folks of the internet age caught onto the art card business and began selling them online, often for only a few dollars. I sell a few art cards from time to time, and keeping with the traditional cards, I sell only originals. An art card is the perfect idea for someone without alot of wall space or with a tight budget, since the cards are the size of a playing card and still typically only sell for a few dollars. I do advice buyers out there to make sure you read the fine print about your card before buying, there are alot of prints that now sell as art cards, and though the beauty of these are outstanding, they fail to retain the value of an original. Also, be sure that the card has been created on a sturdy and long lasting material as well as varnished or protected in some manner as to ensure it’s life-span. As with all art, the value increases as time goes by, so it is important that the quality of the art is up to par. I often create my art cards on canvas that has been attached to black matboard and I varnish the final painting to protect it from scratches and fading, the cards are a treasure to keep, and I want my buyers to feel that they truely won something great.
