Are sellers cheating you how to tell
I Am Legend February 22nd, 2008
Shill bidding is when a user has one or many other id’s and bid’s on his/her own item to raise the price.
1. Look at feedback left and recived same people over and over
2. Selling the same item again and again.
3. Private auctions
4. Alot of the same feedback
5. New user less than 30 day’s bidding
6. Second offers that come in 12 hours
These are some of the things to look for on feedback. A shiller will receive feedback from alot of low feedback users and tend to not leave any.
A shiller may have over bid his/her item and relists it untill they get what they want
Some shiller use private auctions to hide that they are using a shilling id
Alot of the same bidders bidding on the same auction this is a sign,
If you see 1 to 3 new users bidding on this item it could be a sign be wary
Also some shill bidders will after 1-3 days after an auction will offer it to you as a second chance because listing it again is suspect.
You want to watch out some people like to buy from the same seller these are not shill bidders just commited buyers.
Some new id’s that are bidding on high dollar items may be legit just looking fo a gift or a hard to find item.
Second chance offers can be legit some high bidders change their minds.
Not all people cheat, not all people stay honest just always keep you eyes open and be safe
