Antique vs. Vintage

antiques prices February 26th, 2008

Some things that are stated on e-Bay that have or may have some people confused about how old something really is is very distrubing. I have read several books about “antique” and “vintage” items and all of them state:

Vintage = 20 years — 99 years old

Antique = 100 years — And older

If your not sure that an item is vintage or antique, please try and look on here for a reference and search e-bay for like items. Ask around with your friends and family memeber, they know more than you think.

Not everyone follows the statement above and we all should when listing an item for sale on e-Bay. Persons buysing from us are thinking that a 30 year old truck (from 1930) is antique when in fact it is only vintage.

So please, lets help us all out and try to use these two words a little better and help people buying and make sure they do know what they are really getting is as old as we state it is.
